	PLEASE NOTE:- *ALL ENTRIES FOR OCDS 2008 NEED TO BE NOTIFIED BY 30TH SEPTEMBER* ********************************************* OLDER CATTLE DISPOSAL SCHEME (OCDS) We currently have a few spaces still available for collections in November & December. To be pre-booked we require the eartag numbers of cattle by Tuesday 30th September. IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE ENTRIES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SCHEME PLEASE CONTACT US AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The RPA require that all entries for the remainder of the scheme are to be pre-booked by 30th September 2008. The OCDS scheme will cease at the end of 2008 and producers may be liable for disposal costs after this date. To pre-book cattle or for further information relating to collections please contact the Auctioneers. ******************************************* NEW TRANSPARENT BOOKING SYSTEM FOR OCDS As producers are aware all cattle born before the 1^st of August 1996 cannot enter the food chain and must be taken to an approved collection centre. The Rural Payments Agency have now announced that all animals to be presented for slaughter to the ODCS Scheme need to be pre-booked with the abattoir/collection centre. In order to pre-book animals their eartag and producer’s holding number is required. Lodge & Thomas will continue to hold fortnightly collections usually on a Monday at Truro Livestock Market in order to fully utilize transport to Southern Counties Foods in Langport, Somerset. The Market has Red Centre Status and therefore we are able to accept TB restricted cattle providing that are accompanied by the appropriate DEFRA Movement Licenses. We also remind producers that all animals entered into the scheme must be clearly identifiable by their eartags and also that all animals must be fit to travel. To book in stock or for more information relating to the Older Cattle Disposal Scheme or any issues relating to the collections please contact Edward Buckland or Bob Mosley. ******************************************* OLDER CATTLE DISPOSAL SCHEME (OCDS) EURO EXCHANGE RATE APPLICABLE FROM 1ST NOVEMBER 2008 The ECB published exchange rate is £0.78690= 1 Euro. This will apply to all slaughterings (or presentations to a collection centre in the case of emergency on farm kills) carried out from 1st November 2008 and the rest of the month of November 2008. The effective rate per head for November 2008, based on the Flat rate of 292 Euros per head, is £229.77. ******************************************* EARTAGS Cows with only one eartag, i.e. born 1st September 1996 to 1st January 1998, are being binned regularly if the vets at the abattoirs decide they are worn and all letters and numbers are not legible. It is therefore recommended that even these older cows are double tagged for ease of reading. *********************************************
