In more detail...

There is ample parking and flexible opportunities for anglers of all ages, skills and physical abilities.

The current owners of Kernow Coarse Fishery purchased the site approx. 5 years ago and have extensively landscaped the grounds and improved the original 2 fishing lakes, which were then known as Sharkey's Pit. The lakes were first established around 1988/89 and have since been enlarged and improved to provide commercial fishing and competition. The lakes have been re-stocked and the grounds landscaped with 40 pegs on the large match lake and 12 pegs on the smaller match lake.

The site extends in total area to about 3.82 acres and has two stocked lakes extending to approx. 1¼ acres

The fishing lakes are situated in beautiful Cornish countryside, approximately 2 miles from the coastal resort town of Hayle which is served by the main A30 trunk road providing easy access to the east and west of the County together with a mainline railway station with trains direct to London Paddington.

Hayle has a good range of services and amenities including shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants, schools, hospital, sports and leisure clubs etc.

A hard surfaced track leads to the lakes from a minor Council maintained road with a controlled gateway entrance.

The current owner has developed the site to make it suitable for a wide range of users including families and disabled persons including wheelchair users etc

The lakes are stream fed and well stocked with a wide range of fish offering a variety of fishing and sporting opportunities including seven species of Carp - Mirror, Common, Leather, Ghost, Koi and Crucian with a range of catch weights up to 20lbs together with a range of Silverfish including Roach, Rudd and Perch as well as Tench, Golden Tench and Eels etc. The lakes also contain a variety of water plants, lilies and the banks are landscaped with young and mature trees, shrubs and bushes etc.

The larger lake is just under 1 acre and is shaped with two arms maximizing the bank areas for more pegs. The whole property is a delightful wildlife haven with a vast array of wildlife plants, insects and birds etc. with paths leading to the fishing pegs.

The current owner has also obtained planning permission to further enhance the site by establishing the site as a sustainable coarse fishery with a 3 year permission for the siting of a mobile caravan for residential use together with a new small lake for use as a breeding system to replenish fish stocks throughout the year or to sell to other fishing lakes under an Environment Agency Licence. The permission also allows for a container tackle shop, managers office and living accommodation. Plans are in place to improve and enlarge the car parking and pathways. (Planning permission granted on 17th December 2014 under application PA14/07241).

The current business operates a membership system with day tickets and match events, and new plans propose for more para fishing, fish breeding, night fishing and fishing holidays in the future.
