The main A30 trunk road is about 2 miles away at Redruth and provides easy access to the east and west of the County. The City of Truro is the administration centre for Cornwall and has a wealth of retail, leisure, health, education and business facilities and is about 10 miles distant.
Portreath is a sought after village offering a good range of local facilities including pubs, school, shops etc as well as the once very busy harbour which was a very important port serving the local fishing and mining industries. Portreath is now a popular holiday resort with a well renowned surfing and sandy beach. There are a number of superb rural and coastal cliftop walks in the area. The former tramway linking Portreath and Devoran is now a designated cycle track. There are more superb sandy beaches at Porthtowan, Chapel Porth, The Towans and Perranporth which are also popular with watersports enthusiasts.
The nearby town of Redruth has good local facilities including a mainline railway link to London Paddington.
